ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1) Patch level analysis on firmware 14.02.1804.53

Security Research Labs from Germany have released a new security check app for Android called SnoopSnitch. The app checks how many of Google security patches were installed and how many are missing. The app is available here for download.

I have ran the analysis on my Asus ZenFone Max Plus (M1) with the firmware version WW_Phone-14.02.1804.53-20180323 – this was the firmware released on April 10, 2018.
Here are the results on my phone:

  • Patched: 147
  • Patch missing: 10
  • After claimed patch level: 0
  • Test inconclusive: 68
  • Not affected: 0

I have reported this to Asus via the user forum and I surely hope they will improve the situation – especially with the 10 missing patches. My guess is that they have just forgotten to include them in their builds.
